Sheila Jackson Lee: ’Racism’ a ‘National Security Threat’—‘Huge Sums of Money’ Needed to Win Over ‘White Minds’

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) on Tuesday declared that “racism” is “a national security threat” and urged President Donald Trump’s administration to invest more federal funds to “get into the lives” and “minds” of young white males who are “drawn to white militia, white supremacy, white nationalism because they have nothing else to do.”

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) held a press conference on Dec. 13 to announce that she will be chairing a new Congressional Jazz Caucus. To help accomplish this, on Dec. 12 Jackson Lee introduced H.R. 4626, "to preserve knowledge and promote education about jazz in the United States and abroad."

Activists Rip CNN for ‘Major Representation Problem,’ Demand Women of Color Moderators for All Debates

Women’s advocacy groups—National Women’s Law Center, UltraViolet Action, and Higher Heights—on Tuesday criticized CNN for not having a woman of color as a debate moderator and launched a petition demanding that establishment media networks include women of color moderators in all upcoming debates so they do not have a “major representation problem” like CNN.
