8K Migrants Held in Single Texas Border Sector, Say Feds

Border Patrol agents are currently holding an average of 8,000 migrants per day in facilities in the Rio Grande Valley Sector of South Texas. This represents about half of the total number of migrants in U.S. custody nationwide.

Police in southern California announced on Friday the arrests of two men linked to the Mexican-based Sinaloa Cartel. The men allegedly operated a drug-trafficking cell in Apple Valley, California. The multi-agency investigation also led to the seizure of 500 pounds of methamphetamine worth $1.25 million dollars.

Tents Erected Outside Border Patrol Stations to Hold Overflow Migrants

The record-setting waves of migrants flowing into the Rio Grande Valley Sector forced U.S. Border Patrol agents to build tents outside of their stations for temporary housing. Some migrants were also held in parking lots. The new measures come after a newly built tent facility nearby already reached its maximum capacity.

A police commander in the border state of Sonora was assassinated Friday morning by cartel gunmen as he was loading into his unmarked duty vehicle in front of a pharmacy. The murder occurred in Hermosillo.

Deported Migrant Used Infant for Fake Family Claim at Border, Say Feds

A previously deported Honduran national attempted to illegally re-enter the United States by utilizing a six-month-old boy as a “fake” son to make a fraudulent family claim, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials allege. ICE agents from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) determined there was no familial relationship between the man and the little boy.

Mexican Cartel Connected to Heroin Trafficking Bust in Oklahoma, Say Feds

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Oklahoma announced the indictment of 29 alleged members and co-conspirators of a drug trafficking organization with ties to the Cártel de Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG). The 29 are accused of participating in a criminal enterprise to possess and distribute heroin and perform money laundering.

Deported Criminal Alien Assaulted Border Patrol Agent, Say Feds

A previously deported criminal alien from Mexico assaulted a Del Rio Sector Border Patrol agent during an arrest. The Mexican national with an extensive criminal history was traveling with a large group of migrants near the immigration checkpoint on Highway 57 in South Texas.
