Elon Musk Deposed in Tesla Lawsuit over SolarCity Merger

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has been deposed in a class-action lawsuit relating to Tesla Inc’s $2.6 billion acquisition of SolarCity in 2016. As part of the deposition, Musk claimed he could not be recused from discussions about acquiring SolarCity, which he was both chairman and the largest shareholder of, because “I needed to voice my opinion, obviously.”

Elon Musk to Appear at AI Conference – in China

Vanity Fair outlined in a recent article how Tesla CEO Elon Musk employed a number of questionable tactics in order to purchase the floundering solar power company he was both the largest shareholder of, SolarCity. Consumer Advocacy Groups Call for Investigation of ‘Deceptive’ Tesla Autopilot Claims

Two consumer advocacy groups, the Center for Auto Safety and Consumer Watched, have renewed their call for the FTC to investigate Tesla over the company’s claims related to its “autopilot” feature. The organizations believe that Elon Musk and Tesla engage in “dangerously misleading and deceptive practices” when describing the software’s capabilities. In a separate post to social media, safety expert Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger  commented on Tesla’s fully self-driving ambitions, saying they “should concern everyone who will share the same streets as a driver or pedestrian.”

Ford and VW Teaming Up on Electric Vehicles

Auto manufacturers Ford and the Volkswagen Group have announced plans to strengthen their global alliance and release an electric vehicle by 2023. Much to Elon Musk and Tesla’s dismay, VW CEO Herbert Diess explained their goal is to “turn the electric car from a niche product into a mass phenomenon.”
